Founded in 1993 by Robin Peeters, Mosasaurus Film Productions is a film production studio based in the Euregio Maas-Rijn near Maastricht. With nearly 30 years of experience in the film and television industry, Mosasaurus specializes in the development and production of films, series, and online video content. The company is dedicated to creating impactful content that makes art, culture and history accessible to audiences of all ages.
Mosasaurus boasts an extensive portfolio, including feature documentaries such as The Myth of Rowwen Hèze, The Bullet Hole of Château St. Gerlach and Dubois – The Quest for the Missing Link, featuring Redmond O'Hanlon. Currently, the studio is developing the feature documentaries TANA - Une Aventure Musicale Fantastique and PALEOART: The Kennis Brothers.
The studio has also produced several seasons of the successful regional TV series Expedition Limburg, an engaging program about archaeology and history, as well as its spin-off eXpedition, an online youth series that earned a Cinekid Award nomination. Other notable productions include the 13-episode dialect comedy Sjravelentaere and the dialect series In the Light of the Fire – Myths and Legends, created in collaboration with children's author Ton van Reen.
Mosasaurus collaborates with broadcasters such as History Channel, NTR, and L1, and serves clients including Naturalis Biodiversity Center, Moesgaard Museum in Denmark, and the Zayed National Museum in Abu Dhabi. By adopting a flexible and customized approach, the company consistently delivers high-quality, original productions tailored to the specific needs of each project.
In addition to its own productions, Mosasaurus serves as a local producer for external film companies, contributing to the production of TV commercials and international projects such as the American hit series The Curse of Oak Island.
Robin Peeters, who graduated from the Netherlands Film Academy in 1996, leads Mosasaurus as a producer, writer, and director. His expertise lies in creating cultural and scientific films and series, though he occasionally ventures into fiction and music videos. Beyond his work with Mosasaurus, Robin is active as a Director of Photography and Film Editor for external productions and regularly mentors emerging filmmakers. Robin lives and works in Limburg, the place where 65 million years ago the Mosasaurus – the "T. rex of the sea" – swam through a subtropical sea.
Mosasaurus Film Productions, opgericht in 1993 door Robin Peeters, is een filmproductiestudio gevestigd in de Euregio Maas-Rijn, nabij Maastricht. Met bijna drie decennia ervaring in de film- en televisie-industrie richt Mosasaurus zich op de ontwikkeling en productie van films, series en online video content. Het bedrijf creëert impactvolle content die kunst, cultuur en geschiedenis toegankelijk maakt voor jong en oud.
Mosasaurus heeft een breed scala aan producties op zijn naam staan, waaronder de lange documentaires De Mythe van de Rowwen Hèze, The Bullet Hole of Château St. Gerlach en Dubois – The Quest for the Missing Link, met Redmond O'Hanlon. Momenteel werkt Mosasaurus aan de lange documentaires TANA - Une Aventure Musicale Fantastique en PALEOART: The Kennis Brothers.
De studio produceerde ook meerdere seizoenen van de succesvolle regionale tv-serie Expeditie Limburg, een programma over archeologie en geschiedenis, en de spin-off eXpeditie, een online jeugdserie die genomineerd werd voor een Cinekid Award. Daarnaast creëerde Mosasaurus de dertiendelige dialectcomedy Sjravelentaere en de dialectserie In het Licht van de Haard – sagen en legenden, in samenwerking met kinderboekenschrijver Ton van Reen.
Het bedrijf werkt voor omroepen zoals History Channel, NTR en L1, en opdrachtgevers zoals Naturalis Biodiversity Center, Moesgaard Museum, Denemarken en Zayed National Museum, Abu Dhabi. Mosasaurus’ flexibele en op maat gemaakte benadering van elk project stelt hen in staat om voortdurend hoogwaardige en originele producties te leveren.
Mosasaurus werkt als local producer voor externe producenten en was in die hoedanigheid betrokken bij de productie van diverse tv-commercials en de Amerikaanse hitserie The Curse of Oak Island.
Robin Peeters, afgestudeerd aan de Nederlandse Filmacademie in 1996, leidt Mosasaurus als producent, schrijver en regisseur. Hij heeft zich gespecialiseerd in films en series die zowel cultureel als wetenschappelijk zijn, maar zo nu en dan duikt hij ook in de wereld van fictie of muziekvideo’s. Buiten zijn werk voor Mosasaurus is Robin actief als Director of Photography en Film Editor voor externe producenten, en helpt hij regelmatig opkomende filmmakers bij het ontwikkelen van hun projecten. Robin woont en werkt in Limburg, de plek waar 65 miljoen jaar geleden de Mosasaurus – de "T. rex van de zee" – door een subtropische zee zwom.
